Blogger Tag: Get to Know Me

I’d like to apologize to you all about being away from the blog for so long. But those of you who’ve read my last blog post knows that January has been a rough month for me. I nearly lost all motivation to continue blogging and even found it difficult to get out of bed some mornings. Because of that I wanted to ease myself back into blogging with some light-hearted posts. So I figured why not do the Blogger Tag.  I just love doing tags as they’re a fun way to talk about various topics and about life.

I’d love to thank Teatime With Naomi for inspiring me to do the tag. By all means give her some love over on her tag post. Tell her that I sent you *wink*. If you’d love to get to know me better as a blogger, read more below!

Blogger Tag

1. How Tall Are You?

I’m about 5ft5, I believe. I’m a pretty short girl and I’ve always been aware of it. Especially when I enjoy things like pageantry and modelling. I honestly wish I was taller so I could try my hand at that form of work. But alas, such is life, so I don’t beat myself up about it.

2. Do You Have A Hidden Talent? If So, What?

I want to say art, since I don’t do much with it these days. But back when I was in secondary school, I was also doodling, trying to better my craft. I’m also really good at research? It sounds weird but if you send me on a hunt for a pdf or some obscure band, I’m usually good at getting results. It might not seem like much, but I take a bit of pride in it.

3. What’s Your Biggest Blog-Related Pet Peeve?

Definitely the follow-unfollow method. I hate that sense of accomplishment. Thinking that I’ve reached a goal, only to have about 10 people unfollow me. Honestly it just ticks me off. At the end of the day, engagement is what should be valued.

4. What’s Your Biggest Non-Blog Related Pet Peeve?

People who don’t follow through with what they say they’re going to do. Or those who love to waste my time. I’ve had friends come to me to ask for advice, such as cosplay related. And I would go on the hunt for them, gather all the info they need, compile it. And then after I give it to them, they don’t do anything with the information. Or ask me to find makeup classes for them and after I send them the info? They never follow through. It’s really a sucky feeling, like my time is being wasted or what I’m doing isn’t being appreciated.

5. What’s Your Favourite Song?

Anyone who knows me knows I love music. So it’s hard for me to choose just one. My tastes tend to change too, depending on my mood. But now I love Kristen Walker’s All Of My Loving. She’s actually a local artist, right here in Barbados.

6. What’s Your Favourite Social Media Website?

Instagram. While being my most frustrating, I love that I can scroll on end and see a variety of photos from people from around the world. I’m a visual person, so I guess that’s why it appeals to me.

7. What’s Your Favourite Way To Spend Your Free Time?

I’d have to say it’d definitely be working on cosplay or blogging. I can spend hours on end reading up and practicing new techniques as it relates to cosplay. Otherwise I’m blogging or working on blog related duties!

8. What’s Your Favourite Junk Food?

Burgers, definitely! I like to joke that I’m a burger connoisseur. And when out, at a restaurant for the first time, I’m quick to check their menu for burgers.

9. Do You Have A Pet Or Pets? If So, What Kind And What Are Their Names?

I have two lovely tortoises that I love with all my heart. Their names are Sunny and Speedy. I’ve had them for such a long time now they feel more like children and not pets.

10. What’s Your Favourite Fiction And Non Fiction Books?

For fiction, I’d have to say A Series Of Unfortunate Events. I first read the books when I was about 8 years old. Over 10 years later and it’s still my favourite book series. So you can imagine how excited I am for the Netflix series.

I’ll be honest and say I don’t read many non-fiction books. But currently I’m loving #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso. I’m starting to read more self-help and business books. Hopefully they’ll have some positive impact on me haha.

11. What Your Favourite Beauty Product Or Tool?

Beauty blender, beauty blender. I am obsessed with that makeup sponge. I first had one in late 2015 and then lost it. And let me tell you how much I missed it. My makeup didn’t feel quite right until I bought another at the end of last year. Trust me when I say every girl (or guy) needs a beauty blender in her life.

12. When Were You Last Embarrassed? What Happened?

I can’t say that I can recall. I tried to put those memories out of my head as soon as possible. If not I’d focus on it too much. It may sound silly but I’m totally honest.

13. If You Could Only Drink One Beverage (Besides Water) For The Rest Of Your Life, What Would It Be?

Probably hot chocolate or fruit juice. Hot Chocolate because it really does warm me up and helps me get the day going. And it’s something that I’ve grown up on. Fruit juice because I love sweet drinks plus it’s a bit healthier compared to carbonated drinks.

14. What’s Your Favourite Movie?

Favourite movie, hmm, that’s a toughie. 10 Things I Hate About You is one that I find myself always going back to. It never gets boring for me.

I want to say Art, like I was genuinely excited to head to my art classes. It was like have a free period, because it never felt like work, it never felt like school. Alternatively I also enjoyed Math, weird I know. But I wasn’t bad at Math and it was generally a breeze for me.

16. If You Could Live Anywhere In The World, Where Would You Live?

Japan! Any of you that know me has heard of my love for the culture and language. Honestly one of my goals in life is to live there for at least a year. And I still haven’t given up on that hope.

17. PC Or Mac?

As a computer science graduate, I have to say PC. It’s just so much easier for me code and tackle assignments. And let’s not forget gaming! But as a creative person, definitely a Mac. Everything about Macs are designed with artists, photographers and videographers in mind. As a blogger, Mac makes everything so much easier. I want the best of both worlds with these two haha.

18. Last Romantic Gesture From A Crush, Date, Boy/Girlfriend, Spouse? (Or Kind Gesture From A Friend)

My boyfriend knows that I love geeky stuff, so think video games, anime, etc. He recently came back from his trip to Canada. And he surprised me with a gorgeous Sailor Moon hair accessory. Sailor Moon is my childhood anime so he made my week when he placed it in my hands.

19. Favourite Celebrity?

Bad gal Riri! Like most Barbadians, I live for Rihanna. She’s not only my favourite celebrity but recording artist. Not only is she super fashionable, her attitude and way of living just speaks to me. To me, she’s an icon.

21. Who Is Your Biggest Inspiration?

Jemma from Dorkface and Amie from The Curvaceous Vegan. Their words captivate me and I find myself eager for their next entry to be posted. I want to be able to captivate people in a similar way with my writing.

In terms of cosplay, I have to say Maki Roll Chop Shop, Jessica Nigri, Yaya Han and Kaybear Cosplay. It’s amazing to me see such talented individuals in the cosplay community. I hope that one day that I’ll be able to create such amazing pieces like they do in the future.
